Skilled labor shortage in healthcare

Across Europe, the demographic shift is creating major challenges for healthcare systems. By 2050, almost 30 % of the EU population is expected to be aged 65 or older, significantly increasing demand for medical and long-term care, while the working-age population shrinks. This imbalance is a key driver of workforce shortages in the sector.

According to official estimates, EU countries collectively faced a shortage of about 1.2 million doctors, nurses and midwives in the past years, a gap that persists and could widen without substantial policy action and recruitment strategies.

Our process

Recruitment in the country of origin and language preparation

In collaboration with universities, institutions and employment agencies, we recruit directly in the country of origin and already start with language preparation to ease the start in the new work environment.

Workshops

In targeted workshops, professionals are prepared both professionally and privately for their future employer and the new environment in advance.

Kick-off meeting and personal introduction

Your personal contact person presents the entire process to your team and clarifies all open questions. In addition, a requirement profile for the professionals is created together.

Integration preparation and coaching

As part of language training, professionals are supported by coaches who assist them in all aspects of life in their native language and prepare them for Europe.

Job interview

Job interviews with employers usually take place via video conference and are accompanied by interpreters if required.

Arrival

From flight booking to travel insurance and transportation to the workplace, we take care of the entire organization and coordination – in close coordination with employers.

Document and authorities management

Talent & Care manages and coordinates the entire document management process from the start, including any necessary work and residence permits.

Professional recognition

Together with European healthcare and educational institutions, we ensure that professionals successfully complete their professional recognition through supplementary courses.

Language as the key to successful integration
Language is a central resource for the integration of highly skilled professionals. It not only facilitates everyday communication but also makes professional qualifications visible, enables the recognition of educational credentials, and supports orientation in the new working environment. Language competence promotes motivation, self-confidence, and long-term success in Europe.

Many professionals already start targeted language courses in their home country, complemented by further measures in Europe to ensure the continuous development of language and professional skills. At the same time, they are prepared for cultural specifics and the professional everyday life to facilitate intercultural integration.

For quality assurance, a team of certified language examiners from Europe monitors the language courses and ensures that agreed standards are met and the required language level is achieved.
